The uber stylish Stanmore home of Lynn, Jamie and Fanfare Prints

Creative guru Lynn had a desire to give her Hawthorn Hawks loving husband a gift for his birthday that was stylish enough to display in their home. After only finding juvenile and garish prints in an extensive search, Lynn put her creative background to good use and created her own. Using the Tram Scroll as a design cue, Lynn swapped out the “place names” for words relating to her husband’s favourite sports club.

After fulfilling friend’s requests for more, someone from the Good Weekend spotted it and named it an Object of Desire. Fanfare Prints was born from that moment. Fanfare has evolved beyond Tram scrolls with design cues now coming from hipster glasses and iconic luggage tags and sports ranging from tennis to rugby and beyond.

Here’s what Lynn has to say about her style, life in the Inner West and her favourite local places. And do check out her fabulous home, we are sure you’ll love it as much as we do!!

“I am originally from Melbourne and moved to Sydney 14 years ago.  I met my husband (to be) Jamie pretty soon after arriving. We were living in the East, and when we got married moved to Glebe Point. We’d looked at so many houses in Paddington, they were tiny! Our money went so much further in Glebe – without compromising on style and original victorian features – and we were a stones throw from the water on Forsyth St. We loved it. While we were there, Glebe Point Diner and Timbah opened and we became good friends with Tim the owner and all the locals. Our son Blake was born nearly 8 years ago and by the time he was 3 we knew we needed somewhere bigger. I had started Fanfare Prints while I was on maternity leave, and our house was beginning to groan with prints and canvases. We needed to find our ‘forever home’ and settled on Stanmore. The houses were like Glebe but bigger with more space.”

What do you love most about your home? “I love the original features and the fact that it is so comfortable to live in.  The recent renovation at the back is very warm and cosy in winter and light and airy in summer.  It’s a place that gives us a lot of pleasure, it really is a sanctuary.”

How would you describe your style?  “I love the juxtaposition of old and new.  Pieces of classic design always work well together.”

What do you love most about the Inner West?  “It’s super cool without being self conscious.”

How do you spend your weekends in the Inner West? “Saturday mornings means footy at Jubilee Park in Glebe – my son plays for the Glebe Greyhounds. After that we might stop at Cornersmith in Annandale for coffee and hot chocolate. A Sunday morning dog walk with Mrs Dooley my fox terrier, we might head to Weekley Park or further afield to the Marrickville Markets on Addison Road. Sunday afternoon drinks might be with friends at the Petersham Bowlo with kids.”

What are some of your local favourite shops to find those stylish items in?  “Jim and Jane in Annandale and Chalk on Stone in Stanmore.  I love having a mooch in these stores and always find something I love.”
