It looks like it’s going to be a mild weekend weather wise, perfect for heading out exploring. Here are a few things we’ve discovered are on in the Inner West this weekend:
Addison Road Street Food Markets and the Street Food Markets Welcome Dinner
This Saturday between 4 – 9pm, Addison Road Community Centre will once again transform into a fantastic night market. If you haven’t tried it yet it’s a great time of year to check it out with the sun staying out a little later.
The markets support refugee stall-holders who serve up the most delicious and authentic street food from around the world. Take a picnic rug and try cuisine from Ethiopia to Iran and Colombia to Sierra Leone. Our kids loved it too and we were humbled and amazed by the stories the stallholders were kind enough to share with us.
In association with the Street Food Markets, this Saturday, Joining the Dots is hosting a special pop-up Community Welcome Dinner from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.
Welcome Dinners connect newly arrived people including migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and international students with established Australians over a potluck-style meal. If you want to find our more about this you can contact The Welcome Dinner Project team at admin@joiningthedots.org.
On Sunday choose between Summer Hill’s Neighbourhood Feast or the Newtown Good Food fair.
Both festivals celebrate our local food and wine scene and will satisfy our foodie cravings.
They are both kid friendly (think petting zoo’s and face painting) full of live entertainment and support local business.
